Why Address Small or Misshapen Teeth?

Small or misshapen teeth can affect the appearance of the smile. Addressing the appearance of teeth that are irregularly shaped or undersized can improve the overall beauty of the smile.

Treating Small and Misshapen Teeth Can Help Oral Health

Although aesthetic issues alone can be enough for someone to seek treatment, small or misshapen teeth can lead to oral health issues if left untreated.

The teeth may be misshapen as a result of genetics or can become misshapen as a result of an injury or other trauma. Chips or cracks can cause the teeth to look jagged and irregular. When teeth that are misshapen from chips or cracks are left untreated, it can leave the tooth vulnerable to decay and further damage.

Why Choose Porcelain Veneers to Improve Your Dental Appearance?

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth-shaped shells that are custom-made to cover the front of individual teeth. Porcelain is the material of choice because it closely mimics the natural luster and sheen of the natural teeth, making it difficult to tell which teeth are treated with veneers and which are not. The natural appearance of porcelain veneers is just one reason they are a popular choice for transforming the smile.

Another reason to choose porcelain veneers is that treatment is relatively quick and painless. With porcelain veneers treatment, your new smile can be achieved in as little as two weeks. Most patients find that porcelain veneer treatment is painless or only mildly uncomfortable.

The Porcelain Veneers Process

The treatment process for porcelain veneers generally requires two appointments. During the first appointment, the teeth are prepared for veneer placement. To prepare the teeth being treated, a small layer of enamel is removed.

Next, impressions of the prepared teeth are made. These impressions will be used to fabricate the customized veneers. Temporary veneers are placed while the veneers are made.

Once the customized veneers are finished, a second appointment will be made to remove the temporary veneers and place the finished ones. A special dental cement is used to bond the veneers to the teeth. Once bonded, the veneers are polished to complete treatment and transform the smile.
